What's there
Ball fields, tennis courts, a performance space and paths to East River Park, all part of the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway. The East Side Coastal Resiliency project reopened the Corlears Hook bridge, six tennis courts, an amphitheater-style space, an esplanade with seating and access to Pier 42 and the ferry in September 2025. The northern part of East River Park, from Houston Street to 15th Street, is expected to stay closed until the end of 2027.
History
The park is named for the Van Corlear family, 17th-century Dutch landowners, and the hook-shaped bend in the shoreline. The city bought the land in 1893 and finished the park in 1905.
For Grand Street co-op residents
Corlears Hook is the closest route from the eastern end of Grand Street to the river, the ferry and the waterfront greenway.
